✨ Scars

• Children 6 years and older and adults. For topical use, once the wound has completely closed, gently massage the area with 1 drop of Italian Helichrysum essential oil diluted in 1 drop of Rosehip vegetable oil. Repeat 3 times a day until the wound has completely healed (up to 3 weeks).

• Children ages 3 and up. For topical use, follow the same instructions as above, but dilute the Italian Helichrysum essential oil to 10% (1 drop in 9 drops of carrier oil).

• For women who are more than 3 months pregnant or breastfeeding. Topical use is possible: diluted, used sparingly, for a short period of time, and on a localized area. However, the abdominal area should be avoided throughout pregnancy.

• For ages 6 and up. Apply 3 times a day for 10 days if the scar is recent, or for several months if it is older. For topical use, apply 2 to 4 drops of the mixture to the scarred area 3 times a day.

Apply 1 drop of the mixture to the visible small veins. Repeat morning and evening until improvement is seen. After 3 weeks of use, it is important to take a one-week break.

Repeat until improvement is seen, not exceeding 3 weeks of use.

• For children ages 3 and up. For topical use, follow the same instructions but dilute the essential oil to 50% in a carrier oil (1 drop of essential oil in 1 drop of Arnica, for example). Dilute further if applying to a large area.

• For pregnant and breastfeeding women. For topical use, follow the same instructions but dilute the essential oil to 10% in a carrier oil (1 drop of essential oil in 9 drops of Arnica, for example).

• For ages 6 and up. Apply 3 to 4 drops of the mixture topically 3 times a day to the inflamed area and repeat as needed.

• For children ages 3 and up and adults. Apply topically by massaging the affected vein area with a few drops of Italian Helichrysum essential oil diluted to 10% in a carrier oil (1 part essential oil to 9 parts carrier oil), moving from the bottom to the top of the painful area.

• The quality of Italian Helichrysum essential oil is important because it affects its composition and, consequently, its properties. Depending on its subspecies and the soil and climatic conditions in which it grew, its chemical profile varies greatly. There are three major subspecies:

✨ Helichrysum italicum subsp. italicum: found in France, Corsica, and Italy.
✨ Helichrysum italicum subsp. microphyllum: found in Corsica, Sardinia, and Crete.
✨ Helichrysum italicum subsp. serotinum: the most widespread, found in southern Europe (Portugal, Spain, and the Balkans).

✨ The variety most recognized for its superior quality in the literature is Helichrysum italicum subsp. italicum, which is very rich in neryl acetate and italidiones.

✨ However, even though the origin is generally a very good indicator of quality, an analysis of the essential oil’s chemical composition remains more reliable and is therefore essential for ensuring its quality. If in doubt, refer to the supplier’s data.

✨ Unique Characteristics of Italian Helichrysum

✨ SUNSHINE IN DRIED FLOWERS

• Although Italian Helichrysum blooms year-round, it is harvested only once a year: during the months of June and July. This is easily explained by the fact that the plant does not produce the same compounds throughout the year. It is therefore necessary to choose the sunniest time of year.

• The yield is one of the lowest. Only the flowers are picked by hand: it takes 1 ton to produce 1 kg of essential oil! This explains the rarity of this exceptional and highly prized essential oil. The flowers have an incredible ability to remain fresh, even after being picked. Ideal for treating circulatory problems, Helichrysum essential oil also soothes “emotional wounds,” mild depression, and other issues…

• Its rarity explains why harvesting is strictly regulated to best protect these shrubs, which grow to about 30 centimeters in height.

✨ SOME VERY SPECIAL KETONES...

• Identifiable by their "one" ending, ketones are divided into four families with different structures. Those found in Italian Helichrysum essential oil are bifunctional ketones, also known as diketones.

• Generally speaking, ketones do not have a good reputation. In fact, some of these molecules pose a neurotoxic and abortifacient risk when taken in high or repeated doses. They are capable of crossing the blood-brain barrier and reaching the brain. In the event of an overdose or repeated use, they can damage the myelin sheath that protects neurons and disrupt their function.

• However, the ketones present in Italian Helichrysum essential oil are diones (also known as diketones). Because these ketones are larger in size, it is unlikely that they will cross the blood-brain barrier. At therapeutic doses, the literature reports no adverse or toxic effects of Italian Helichrysum essential oil. However, as a precaution, it is not recommended for individuals with specific sensitivities to ketones.
